Question: I have been taking oxycotin for 30 months, From Oct of last year I've had 2 knee and 2 shoulder replacements. 2 weeks ago I completely stopped taking oxycotin and have been extremely tired, taking naps and also having no drive. Is this normal?

Brief Answer:
not a bit.

Detailed Answer:
but it isn't drug withdrawal the way that is normally meant. Signs of drug withdrawal would be increased activity, shakes, tremor, abdominal cramping, sweats AND, it would be over by 2 weeks.
A small percent of people have the same response that most felines do: increased energy. This is certainly not the usual case for a group of drugs whose name (narcotic) is Greek for "sleepy". When these people take any narcotic they get more energy and when they do not take them they have less energy. This is their normal state but they do not necessarily feel normal after having more energy when on narcotics. There is not a good treatment for this when "normal" is the problem that this group would have problems with.

Other things for adjustment and energy are about all that can be done. Certanily making sure the person did not have another medical illness such as anemia or low thyroid that would make them tired all the time. But then, exercise and makng sure they eat and rest enough is about the only thing to do.
