What Causes Facial Tightness And Pain In The Scalp After A Head Injury?

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Nov 2016
Question: I got hit in the head today (i think it was a small object blowing in the wind). It hurt a little but I decided that it wasnt anything to worry about. A bit later i started feeling (still do) tightness on that side of my face. I thought that was a good sign - that it was a muscle reaction and was just some pain on my scalp. Now - 7 hours later - I'm getting small sharp pains in my head - not where I was hit but on the same side and further back. Should I be concerned? Go to ER in middle of the night? See how i feel tomorrow?

Brief Answer:
See how you feel tomorrow!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed your information fully and a small wind blown object can hardly cause brain issues. Your symptoms would be entirely soft tissue related. There is no need going to the ER at this time. A dose of tylenol would be helpful. If you are not feeling a lot better tomorrow, then get evaluated. As for me, there are no red flags: From the nature of the incidence/symptoms and I will not recommend ER at this time.

Keep me updated if any new symptoms set in for evaluation and further guidance.

I wish you well.
