What Causes Elevated WBC Level During Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: I just received my lab results -I am 42 and am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant after 2years of IVF . My labs show that my WBC are slightly elevated 12.2 (3.8-10.8) but my absolute eosinophils are 1098 (15-500) and my absolute neutrophils 8735 (1500-7800). My mom died of leukemia 9 years ago and of course that goes through my mind. Historically my labs were normal. I do have mild allergies -seasonal and some very mild eczema.

Brief Answer:
Findings are not related to leukemia.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

Your findings suggests raised neutrophil and eosinophil count. It is not related to leukemia
Increased eosinophil count is related to history of allergy and increased neutrophil may be due to super added infection.
These findings are commonly seen in allergic patients.

You should take proper medicines for allergy. You don't need aggressive treatment.Antibiotics and antihistaminics can be prescribed after clinical evaluation.
