What Causes Dull Ache In Groin Area?
Question: I have had a dull ache in my lower right groin area that gets worse when I eat. It has been progressing for a couple of weeks. I have a lot of gas and loose stools, and heartburn. I am on medicare and do not want to go to the hospital if this is just irritable bowel...I do not have my gallbladder any more and have had a full hysterectomy. All that is left is the appendix.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. the nature of your symptoms are related to irritable bowel syndrome. Appendicitis is unlikely as this would not wait for meals before it hurts. Also, the gas, loose stools and heartburn are not suggestive of appendicitis.
Unfortunately, the diagnosis of irritable syndrome can only be made after ruling out all other possible causes like gastritis, intestinal ulcer, etc. For this reason, it would be good to get some examinations and follow up with imaging and laboratory studies. If nothing worrisome is found, you would be reassured and treated accordingly. For now, eat healthy(fruits, vegetables, fibers, less spicy and avoid fast foods, exercise regularly and keep a positive state of mind.
