Question: Dear dr,

My throat feels very dry and especially on the part of the tongue. However , I feel enough moisture in my mouth. I don really feel thirsty but cool water or ice cream soothe them awhile . That sensation feels like jux having drink a bowl of hot soup. Sometimes it gets better, I think night time . Now when I breath in hot weather or stuffy areas it seems worse n more dry .

Brief Answer:
many causes for dryness of throat

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome to healthcaremagic,

The commonest cause for dry throat is not drinking enough fluids. You should drink 3 -4 litres of fluids per day.

Spending long hours in air conditioned environment can also dry your throat. Double your intake of fluids when in AC environment.

Mouth breathing is also a common cause of dry throat. Nose block results in mouth breathing. See a doctor if you have nose block.

Excessive talking, infections and allergies can also produce dry mouth.

Living in dry climate and smoking and tobacco chewing can produce dry mouth.
