What Causes Dizziness Along With Nausea, fatigue And Slurred Speech?

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Dec 2014
Question: These are some symptoms that have been occurring over the last 4 months. Dizziness, nausea, extreme exhaustion, loss of balance, slurring words, profuse sweating many times a day, itchiness , insomnia and probably others that are not new. I have many health issues and take numerous meds for these issues. I stopped taking (with Dr's approval) the new meds I was given. I would like to know the price of this consultation as I am on disability and am on Medicare and am paying off balances for Dr's and tests that Medicare doesn't cover...and of course, I'm in the donut hole.Is there any time frame in which to expect a response? Will the Dr refer a question to a specialist if he/she feels they do not have the expertise to answer? Will the Dr ask about my medical history?

One more important symptom is an extremely high white count that never falls below 12,000 and I have had a bone marrow biopsy. It was negative for malignancy.

Brief Answer:
12000 count of WBC - only mild increase.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for asking.

I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Details about consultation rate and time of response will be provided to you by customer care soon

2. You can decide on specialist or general query, as you decide. The specialist, if asked will answer the question. Rates vary with specialist or general query . You need to ask customer care regarding that.

3. Yes, if the medical history or medical reports provided by you if inadequate for opinion, the doctor will ask you further history or details as necessary.

4. WBC count around 12000 is near normal. Maybe due to stress, infection or medication, it can vary. As bone marrow biopsy is negative, no malignancy of white blood cells is present.

Do get back with reports and specific queries.

Any further queries, happy to help again.

Dr.Prakash:

I am aware that 12,000 is only slightly elevated. I believe I said it never falls below that. The last WBC was 21,000.

That is only one symptom. I asked what an opinion might be for all of the symptoms I extolled in my first query. These were not addressed. I am a brittle diabetic for 30 yrs. I had an MI in 1995. I had CABG x3 in 2004. A thyroidectomy last Dec. I am on 10 meds that have not changed except for gabapentin and Brintellix which caused terrible side effects and have been DX'd. I was hoping you might have some ideas of the cause of my symptoms. I feel you have not read my question carefully. Please reread and if you have no ideas, please let me know. $15 is not a lot of money, but, to someone who is on disability, it is the cost of a generic med. I would appreciate any honest answer you might have. If you have none, please let me know that as well. I believe you can see by my writings, that I am not uneducated as my medical issues. Please let me know if you have any idea. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
More details necessary for possible opinion.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for asking again.
I have read your query. I needed your detailed history to address your symptoms hence I asked you to provide history.
Thanks for your information.

1. Count of 21000 is high, however high counts can be seen in infections, stress, inflammation (arthritis, etc) and other numerous conditions. The usual doubt with cell count, specifically when increased, is a possibility of blood cancer. In the blood counts, you would have noted increase in cell percentage. If there are any immature cells either in hemogram, or on peripheral or if it is increased on bone marrow biopsy, then a possibility of leukemia can be thought of.

There are conditions, called as leukemoid reactions, in which count above 50000 is common due to inflammation. Sustained high count is due to inflammation. C-reactive protein or ESR will be increased in these conditions. If you can attach the reports, I can be more specific.

2. You are on multiple medications and numerous health issues. Few have been discontinued due to reactions.

3. Ok, for me to give any opinion, can be more precise with the medications, onset of symptoms, your current lab reports, blood pressure and blood sugar details. Also the steps taken by you or your doctor, towards managing these specific symptoms.

Your routine like exercises, diet being taken, sleep and activities you can manage are also important.

I agree with you about your understanding of the medical issues. Now, if you can guide me regarding the above details, I will see, how much I can help you.

Without knowing any specific details, I cannot just comment blindly. Try to list them and also attach reports, whichever possible. Take your time, but do get back with all details.

Thank you. I will work on what you have asked me to supply. We live near the XXXXXXX Clinic, and I don't want to, but I am thinking of having myself admitted.

Brief Answer:
Getting admission could get a good workup

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for replying.

Admitting even though is not the best thing, but would get you a complete workup. With the latest results, maybe possibly they could find out exactly what could be going wrong.

Do work on about the details, I asked.

A complete hemogram, latest thyroid hormone profile, liver function tests, diabetes workup including for peripheral neuropathy, possible gastritis, radiological investigations like CT brain are few things, which you can get yourself evaluated and tested for.

There are numerous things. Nothing wrong in getting tested. Treatment, as always you can decide.

Any further queries, happy to help again.
