Question: I recently had anterior surgery on my neck for a pinched spinal column. Since then for about 1 week I have a deep whooping like cough, profuse sweating and shortness of breath, weakness and terrible lower back pain as well as dark reddish colored urine.

Neck surgeries can cause phrenic nerve damage and diaphragmatic palsy.
This can cause such coughing and breathing difficulty.

So please get done PFT to identify any decrease in the lung functions.
Also, get done chest X-ray to rule out lung infection.

For urinary symptoms get done the urinary microscopic examination to rule out urine infection.

Please let me know if there's any history of diabetes.
