What Causes Constant Seeping In The Anal Area?

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Feb 2016
Question: This is rather embarrassing, but has become debilitating. I have regular/constant seeping in the anal area. Wearing sanitary pads is so uncomfortable, I'd rather just stay home than leave the house. What is causing this?

Warm Welcomes. I appreciate your trust in HCM and assure you are on best portal on the globe for expert online medical services.
I have thoroughly reviewed health query you raised, and well realize all of those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will extend my expertise to solve the problems.

There are many reasons for this kind of symptoms and may be:
Anal Fistula (an outside opening on the skin that causes seepage of intestinal contents).
Pilonidal Sinus (a infection of the anal area that also has an open sore of varying size and consistency and causes such symptoms as you are facing).
External anal sphincter problems (sphincter remains loose and causes leakage from anus).
Some disease of the colon or rectum.

You need to consult a General Surgeon to see what actually is going on there. He will need to do a thorough Physical examination and will a battery of tests including ano-recto-sigmoidoscopy (by passing a camera assisted device inside the anus and rectum upto the levels of colon to see the reason. They will also check the anal sphincter tone).

Management goes according to the specific cause.
