What Causes Chest Pain, Fainting And Lump In Left Armpit?

default
Posted on Sat, 26 Apr 2014
Question: Have Hashimoto disease and have been non-compliant with synthroid 200 mcg in past. Have been very compliant with medication regimen last 3 weeks and have started having left upper chest pain, have almost fainted a couple times after chest pain occurs where I have to stand up or move fast to keep myself from passing out and also have a lump in left armpit with holes on both sides of it that is no drainage anything and has not drained anything. Have what my doctor calls lymphoma and appears to be more flared up. What could be going on? I feel like I am going to die and my doctor doesn't seem concerned. I am also a RN with a very stressful job. A year ago I had a similiar spell and ended up in ER and was throwing PVC's and my potassium was low but potassium has been checked and it is 3.7. Could it possibly be Panic Attacks? I have had a good stress test on treadmill and done a 30 day holter monitor which showed PVC's and occasional increase in heart rate.

Brief Answer: PLease, check the dosage of synthroid! Detailed Answer: Hi and thank you so much for this query. I am so sorry to hear about this chest pain and all related symptoms that you have been experiencing. I am very concerned about the onset of these symptoms following your compliance with the synthroid. Your dosage looks high and though may be okay, chest pain associated with rapid and pounding heart beats often suggest an over treatment of a possible. I will like your TSH levels to be measured to give us an idea whether your medication dosage is okay or not. As an RN, please could you tell me what your blood pressure and pulse is? If for real you have lymphoma, then your doctor need to do something about it. Lymphoma is a form of cancer and I will not want to believe that a physician can make the diagnosis and not go on to provide the necessary treatment for this. Please, ask hi what his plan on this is and whether a referral to an oncologist/hematologist is not warranted! In all, get the synthroid dosage evaluated by measuring your TSH levels. Ask your doctor to get you treated for the lymphoma if for sure you have this cancer type. Provide me with your pulse rate and blood pressure reading. I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks! Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications. Dr. Ditah, MD.
