Brief Answer:
This sounds like heroes zoster

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The pain and the type of it that you are mentioning sounds like herpes zoster pain. Can you see to notice if there are any eruptions or rash that is appearing in the area of pain. Rash usually appears 3-5 days after the pain starts. In case you see such a thing that confirms the diagnosis.

You will need to go to the GP and be put on antiretroviral treatment along with steroids to control such a pain. As these drugs are not over the counter, you have very little choice to get the medicine without a doctor's prescription.

I understand you are limited without insurance. I suggest you to look for low cost community clinics or find a doctor who accepts uninsured patients. You might be able to a prescription through them.

Good luck!!
