Send pictures of the affected area

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query to the forum. I can understand your concern for the blackness and rashes at inner thigh.

It appears form your query that you have got "fungal infection" and resultant darkness due to the same.

In view to confirm the same and help you best I would like to know certain important points regarding your skin concern: -

- Since how long you have blackness and rashes.

- Do you have this on one side of thigh or both the sides?

- Do you have itching or irritation over the same?

- Is this first time that you got this or getting it recurrently.

To guide you best I humbly request you to kindly upload few good resolution pictures of the affected area of thighs. For that you have a feature on the right side of the page. Or else you can send your pictures at YYYY@YYYY and subject as ATTN: Dr Sanjay Kumar Kanodia

Hope to hear soon from your side.

Brief Answer:Mixed fungal and bacterial infection of the folds
Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for sending the pictures and further details.

I have analyzed the pictures sent by you with complete diligence. After analyzing the complete condition let me tell you that this is a fungal infection with "intertrigo" (mixed fungal and bacterial infection of the folds).

Fungal infections and intertrigo are common type of infections which can affect anybody at the folds. But more commonly it affects the areas which are more prone for sweating or moist areas as happened in your case. More specifically these are related to the hygiene and environmental factors.

Due to hot and humid climate or due to tight and synthetic clothing, it leads to growth of fungus and super-added bacteria at the folds. These are initially reddish- brown small areas to begin with and then become red areas or by scratching it lead to red raw areas and darkening of the area.

For the betterment kindly follow the suggestion below:

- Keep yourself away from hot and humid climate.

- Take two times bath.

- Wear cotton clothes and cotton undergarments to be changed two times a day. Do not wear any synthetic or tight garments.

- Do cold compression or warm water compresses according to the weather condition.

- Do not sit continuously for long hours.

- Take “Gentian violet paint” (GV paint) with normal water in a proportion of 1:10. It means 1 drop of Gentian violet paint and 10 drops of water or simply 1 teaspoon Gentian violet paint in 1 cup of water. Take a cotton ball and gently do compression. Do cold compression or warm water compresses according to the weather condition.

-In my patients I suggest to apply latest anti-fungal creams such as clotrimazole or "Sertaconazole" or "Amorolfine " and take anti-fungal tablets according to medical advice. It should be applied in thinnest possible amount so that it should not be visible to the naked eye. A rule of thumb is to take a pea size amount sufficient for palm size area and not to apply beyond the affected area.

-I suggest you oral anti histamine like loratadine (Claritin) or levocetrizine two to three times a day.

-Don't try to scratch or rub the area as can lead to further aggravation of the problem.

Take rest for 1-2 days and do not go for any type of activity causing friction of the area.

You can follow the above regimen for 7 days to get complete benefit.

Most importantly don't try to scratch or rub or repeatedly observe the area as can lead to further aggravation of the problem. I quite often see that due to anxiousness young person’s like you keep on observing and touching the area repeatedly multiple times in day. By doing so the skin is actually more irritated and looks red.

I reassure you fully that you will be alright soon.

I hope this information will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help or else you can close the query and rate the answer.

"Wish you good health and early recovery from the problem"

Brief Answer:
To apply clotrimazole and take loratadine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Yes, my dear young buddy you are quite correct in your interpretation. In all your type of cases I suggest my patients to apply clotrimazole or related cream as suggested before.

In case of itching I prefer loratadine (Claritin) for once of the itching is less and if more than can be taken for 2 to 3 times a day.

Rests of the suggestions are as before to get earliest relief.

I hope this information will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help or else you can close the query and rate the answer.

"Wish you good health"
