What Causes Black Skin Around The Wound?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Aug 2015
Question: I have infected wound, injured 8days ago, started antibiotics on Friday because of spreading redness and increased swelling - currently taking substitute for Bactrim and azithromycin. I went to ER on Sat when my wound was cleaned and the dead, black skin on the edges was cut out plus I got tetanus and immune system boosting shots. Unfortunately, the blackening is happening again. Good news - redness and swelling have almost fully disappeared. I am sending the picture of my wound. Would appreciate your opinion.

wound should be cleaned again.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concerns.

I have seen the images of your wound.
The redness and swelling has reduced. This means that inflammation has substantially reduced.

The blackening which is happening again may interfere with healing process.

I would advice you to visit your doctor again..
The would should be cleaned again and redressed.
Meanwhile, continue with your antibiotics.

Hope this helps.
