Question: My son just turned 14. He gets "A" grades, paticipates in sports and healthy. But he does not share anything about school at home. Generally even after repetitive advice, he does not follow rules at home. As a mom I am ready to be patient. But ,lately his grades on his favorite subject has gone down. Also my friends and relatives say that he does not show attachment. I am worried , Does he need any consultation? Or Change school?. He does not have any bad habits.

Brief Answer: Normal adolescence behaviour Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for posting your query on HealthCareMagic. Behavioral changes are commonly seen in children when they enter the adolescence period. Adolescence is transition from childhood to adulthood. It is marked by body changes and emotional changes and these changes often lead to conflict of thought. These conflicts lead to changes in the overall personality of the adolescent like change in likes-dislikes, falling grades in school, lees interaction with family members, more interaction / influence of friends and peers, etc. Parents need to understand their children and be patient. A close observation of their habits, company, what they do in free time , etc needs to be done however, without their knowledge. In case you as a parent feel anxious, you can consult a psychologist to learn about the behavior of the adolescents and ways to manage them. I hope my answer helps you. Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal

Dear Dr.Shailja Puri Wahal, Thanks for your reply. It helps me to releive stress. Today I talked to the teacher and she told me why this is happening, just because he wants to get his things done. Should I reveal the fact that I discussed the issue with the teacher or not. If not , how do I have to put in front of him. I am not diligent in hiding ! Please advise. Thanks and Regards, XXXX
