Question: Hi Dr. XXXXXXX
I had sex with my fiance but without protection on 15th XXXXXXX this year (however he said he had no discharge inside, yet to be on the safer side i took an ipill within 12 hours. After that we had it again on 27th XXXXXXX same as above. I got my period on 30th XXXXXXX and it lasted for 3 days where 1st day was extremely painful and light bleeding and the rest two days had heavy flow. We had it again on 1st feb and 14th feb but this time with protection. My period date was due on 25th feb but it has still not appeared. I am 6 days late now. i feel back pain and mild period like cramps on my lower abdomen. I have done a urine test on 3rd day of delayed period and it was negative and on the same day a beta-HCG blood test which showed 1.20 level. Now please assure me whether i am pregnant or not? If at all it could be an ectopic pregnancy?
**P.S. My period is regular and has a 24 days cycle. Usually it properly bleeds for 2 days.

Brief Answer:
Most probably you are not pregnant.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for trusting me about your health query!

The chances of pregnancy are very less in your case.

As your beta HCG levels are < 5mIU/ ml the chances of pregnancy and ectopic pregnancy are rule out.

But for more confirmation, you should go for repeat beta HCG level, to see whether it is in increasing or decreasing trend.

Usually urine pregnancy test should be performed 7 days after your period date( for more accurate result).

So do not take stress and wait for your menses.

Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more.

Good luck.

Could it be stress? or side effect of ipill? Can second period be missed due to consumption of ipill?

Brief Answer:
Most probably due to side effect of I-pill.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Nice to hear from you once again.

Stress and I-pill both can cause delayed menses but I-Pill is most probably a cause of delayed menses.

I-pill can cause menstrual irregularities for 2-3 cycles due to hormonal imbalance( because it contains high doses of hormone in it).

Yes, I- pill can disturbed your second period.

So do not take stress and wait for your menses.

Good luck.
