Question: I am experiencing loud stomach sounds, and gas along with indigestion and light headiness. It only subsides when I take a gas reducing medicine and one of my blood pressure meds. I really think the later because by then I'm so flustered with anxiety. This has been occurring for the last 3-4 days, off and on.
Current Daily Meds: Amlodipine Besylate 10 MG, Metropolol Tartrate 100 MG(Hypertention), Xarelto 20 mg,(Atrial Flutter, Corrected by Ablation 1.5 yrs ago) Levothoroxine 250 mcg(Thyroid rmoved (17 yr ago)

Brief Answer:
it may be due to alteration of gut flora

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thanks for putting your query in HealthcareMagic. I'm a Gastroenterologist.

Gases are produced in the body when one eats such kind of carbohydrates which are not digested by our digestive system and it is then metabolized by the bacteria present in our intestine which then produce lots of gases.

Some foods which are known for producing excessive gases are beans, pulses cabbage rice dairy products so you can avoid them.

Sometimes excessive gases are produced due to alteration of gut microbiota which can be corrected by taking a gut antibiotic named as Rifaximin and a course of probiotics (please obtain the necessary prescription from your local physician).

Regular exercise also helps in reduction of gas production and easily evacuation.

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Wish you a good health
