Posted on Mon, 23 Jan 2017
Question: I had a CT scan done after I mention to my PCP that I felt a sharp quick cramp in my abdomin which right I after I felt a warm coating feeling. My stool went from normal to soft(dark brown) then diarrhea(bright brown) also days before my appetite started to subside and feelings of bloating started and lots of burping, some acid reflux and slight difficulty passing gas. The CT scan came back clear but I still feel the bloating and loss of appetite and my poop is more solid but it's yellow, I had 2 BM after the CT and both were yellow. Is the yellow poop from the chalky liquid or is there something else going on?

Brief Answer:
Irritable bowel syndrome might be possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can understand your concern for abdominal symptoms.
1) Yellow sticky stool indicate high amount of fat in stool. This is secondary to inadequate absorption of fat from intestine.
2) Inadequate absorption of fat from diet might be due to inadequate intestinal digestive enzymes.
3) Inadequate intestinal digestive enzyme, burping, decrease appetite, yellow stool are indicative of irritable bowel syndrome. This is physiologic condition due to inadequate intestinal digestive enzyme or irritation/allergy of small intestine from particular food.
4) This condition require exclusion of other disease before confirmation. Therefore it is recommended to have colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy.
5) For treatment - you may take intestinal digestive enzyme supplementation, anti-colic medication for abdominal pain, reduction of fat-content in diet, fibre-rich diet.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any further questions, I would be happy to help you.

Brief Answer:
This pain might be due to anal fissure

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
This type of pain around anus is not associated with your previous symptoms.
This pain might be due to pathology in anus, most likely to have anal fissure. Excessive straining to defecate or passage of hard stool are common reason for development of pain associated with anal fissure.

I just had my first BM of the day and it is no longer yellow, instead its brown and semi-solid. I still feel like my upper abdomin is tense. Last night I ate and didnt have pain but I did have the feeling of my upper stomach feeling very full but I ate a normal amount cause I measure my portions. Is there a posibility that maybe I wasnt eating enough calories and thats what is causing this stomach issue?

Brief Answer:
gastritis related symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I apologize for late reply.
1) No. Less calorie intake does not produce stomach symptoms.
2) Upper abdominal pain is associated with hyperacidity, GERD, indigestion.
3) Symptoms of feeling full stomach, upper abdominal pain, occasional yellow sticky stool are suggestive of indigestion secondary to severe gastritis.
4) There will be inadequate amount of acid secretion from stomach due to presence of inflammation and this contribute to development of symptoms related to indigestion.
5) Other symptoms of gastritis are upper abdominal pain, nausea, abdominal heaviness after food intake.
