What Causes A Sharp Pain On The Abdominal Area

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Jan 2015
Question: Hi,

I have been experiencing pain at the belt line for the past few days. It seems to hurt most when I bend with a belt on. IT is a sharp pain. I can not feel any sort of mass and probing doesn't cause pain. If I have been sitting for a while and stand it hurts a bit until I stretch then it goes away until I bend again. I fly for a living and live in AZ. Was thinking kidney stones....

Brief Answer:
It does not seem to be kidney stones.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
Are you passing stools normally?
Is there any constipation or nausea?
It does not seem like a kidney stone problem from the information you have given us. It seems most likely a muscle pull or an intestinal issue.
Either way, it would be better to take an appointment with your GP and get examined by the Doctor. He can advice you whether any investigation like an Ultrasound is necessary or not. Without examining you it would be difficult to say as to what it is.
Therefore, see a Doctor and let him decide.
Do let me know if I can help you with any other queries you might have on the subject.
Take care,

I have never had kidney stones, and I feel fine and am very active. I do bend down a lot in my activity and this is how I have come to discover the pain. In the morning when I get up I feel fine. It isn't until I bend with a belt on. Then once aggravate this area when bending or standing after sitting for a long period it is more noticeable throughout the day.

Brief Answer:
Most likely muscular pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Then it could most likely be a muscular pain.
I suggest you decrease your activities and should wear loose clothing not constricting around the waist and can take anti inflammatory medicines like Diclofenac sodium or Ibuprofen which you can get prescribed by your GP.
If the pain does not get relieved by these measures then you could see a Surgeon who can examine you and advice accordingly.
Do let us know if there are other queries that require addressing.
Take care,
