Brief Answer:
This is typical of epididymitis and vas infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist,i can fully understand your concern.

What you're describing is typical of epididymitis and infection of vas.
The pain you're having over the epididymis,is due to the infection.

Hope the ultrasound you mentioned,is of the scrotum, with doppler.
If you can send it,i can give an expert opinion.

You'll need a course of antibiotics,with anti-inflammatory medicines.

Keeping the scrotum supported or elevated, relieves pain in the majority.
It may take upto 2 weeks, for complete resolution.
That's provided,you've no other medical problem,like diabetes.

Wish you a speedy recovery.

Hi, thank you for the swift response.
I love in Laos south east Asia and the med care is terrible. An ultrasound was done, but didn't fill me with confidence.
The lump is definitely hard, feels smooth and is attached to the very top of the epidimis. It appears to have reduced in size a small amount.
The part of the epididymitis that's connected to the testicle is painful and that hasn't reduce as yet.
I have been taking antibiotics since last Friday with no real change.
Everything I've read says the lump should be soft so this is my main concern.

Brief Answer:
It may be a hard like swelling in many cases.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

It's not necessary that these swellings are always soft.
Don't worry about that.

This usually reduces as with the medication advised earlier.
Just wait for about 3 weeks and keep the scrotum elevated.

Wish you a speedy recovery.

Thank you so much. I have noticed a slight reduction today and its starting to feel like swollen tubes rather than one mass.

Very much apprecieted.
