What Cause Prolonged And Persistent Ear Pain?
Question: Hi,
I have been getting ear pain since one year. Below is history about my pain.
1) The pain was started in my left year last year December end (1 year back). If I talk on phone for 5 min or using headphones connected to computer for more than 10 min I was getting pain. At that time if I went to ENT specialist and did all the tests needed. Nothing was found and he gave some medicine and I used it for 1 month and did not find any improvement.
2) After 2 months the similar pain started in right ear, at that time I was getting pain when I talk on phone or using headphones. I went to another ENT specialist. He suggested me to take CT scan for brain and found nothing. He suggested some medicine and used that too.
3) I also used some homeopathy medicine for 3 months no cure
4) Two and half months the situation became worst. The pain has increased more. I was getting pain in both the ears if my ears exposed to loud sounds. . I consulted neurologist as it might be issue with some nerves. He asked to take MRI scan for brain. Even that was also good. He suggested some vitamin tablets and injections. I have been using them for more than 2 and half months but no result.
It is increased day by day and situation became worst. I am getting pain even if I sit in front of computer for more than 30min. I am not sure about the issue. I went through many articles over the internet. They are saying these symptoms looks like hyperacusis.
Please help me out. Is this something due to radiation effect or hyperacusis. What is the right direction I need to take to get rid of it? Please suggest me. It is effecting my job.

I suggest you to consult ENT surgeon and give detailed history (migraine or GERD), ENT examination (sinusitis, temparo-mandibular joint problems), laryngoscopy (base of tongue, vocal card lesions), audiometry (to differentiate cochlear and retro-cochlear(hypercusis)). Depending on the examination, treatment can be started.

If i supposed to attack with hyperacusus what are the possible ways to get rid of it. Sorry to repeatedly asking the same question as the issue killing me literally.
I am not able to attend functions and not able to go movies.

Please cover your ears with ear plugs, so that the intensity of the sound that enters your ear is reduced. Hearing aid is not the proposed treatment for your problem (hearing aids are used in hearing loss with tinnitus).
