What Cause Bleeding During Bowel Movements?

default
Posted on Fri, 14 Nov 2014
Question: My 11 year old daughter is bleeding every time she poops. Tonight there was so much blood. I looked at her rectum and there are two small tears and I think a hemorrhoid. But can this cause that much blood? She has only been pooping every 3-4 days and it is big, hard round stool. It just looks like too much blood for it to be from a hemorrhoid or a tear? Can it be internal? the only things we changed recently are taking her off gluten (5 months ago) and she has been taking Vyvannse every day for 4 months. Can it be a side effect?

Brief Answer:
It can occur in hemorrhoids

Detailed Answer:
Hi....by what you quote I feel it's hemorrhoids or fissures. So much bleeding can occur in hemorrhoids. If its internal bleeding the color of blood wouldn't be fresh and it would have been altered to brown or black.
She also has got constipation which us a risk factor for both hemorrhoids and fissure.
Changing over to gluten free diet and stopping vyvanse cannot be a reason for this.
I suggest you consult your pediatrician for treatment of constipation which will eventually clear this problem. If not she needs specific treatment for hemorrhoid and fissure.
