Brief Answer:
Could be due to malabsorption or celiac

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Since the diarrhea is ongoing for months, infectious cause is unlikely. Rather, it is more likely to be due to malabsorption or ailments like celiac disease. I would insist you go get a routine microscopy of stool done and to upload the report. I will be able to guide you accordingly. In the meantime, try avoiding ALL wheat and wheat related products for a couple of weeks and see if it helps. It would also be advisable to avoid milk products during this period.

Let me know if I could help further.

Hi Dr. Saha,
How long before I would expect the diarrhea to go away if it is celiac? I have been gluten free since Thursday. The diarrhea already has subsided. I have experienced it once since last Thursday.

My other symptom was the allergy like symptoms. I have a pretty much constant drain to where I have to clear my throat often? Is that a symptom of Celiac or is that something my body is reacting too?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

Brief Answer:
Could be celiac

Detailed Answer:
The fact that a gluten free diet is providing relief, points to the possibility of celiac. Bear in mind that taking gluten containing foods will again possibly give you the diarrhea and therefore you need to go gluten free. If on a gluten free diet, the problem is unlikely to continue. Also visit a doctor and get proper testing done (while on a gluten containing diet) to get the diagnosis confirmed.

The constant allergic symptoms can also be associated with celiac but are independent. Both are due to immunological cause. Taking steam inhalation and antiallergics should help.

I am a 34 year old female, with episodes of chronic migraine headaches which present themselves with an onset of what seems to be an epileptic seizure in my abdominals. The stomach involuntarily contracts for a period of 30 to 45 seconds, subsides for a few minutes, and then occurs again until vomiting results. The following day or two I have symptoms of a migraine headaches, vomiting for 12 ro 24 hours, followed by nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and in one instance I had an episode where I could not speak or write. My doctor thinks I have abnormal migraines, however, the symptoms occur three days prior to my menses- and when I am under a great deal of stress. I have been experiencing these abdominal migraines or abdominal epileptic seizures- which ever they are called- for a period of 23 years approximately every cycle. They get worse if I eat dairy, yellow cheese, meat, wheat, sugar, onions, and too much chocolate, or smell chemicals, diesel fuel, or bleach. I have received an endoscopy which came back normal, I was tested for Celiacs disease, and that came back normal. I feel frustrated because I cannot get a definitive answer about this condition. I just want an answer about this condition which with my current insurance, I cannot get the tests necessary to diagnose whatever I have. I would be happy to volunteer for a medical study for Abdominal Epilepsy or Migraines if it could lead to a diagnosis. I think this could help me to lead a more normal life, and possibly treatment for this condition. What is your advice for me, considering this has effected every aspect of my life, family, career and health.

can using mirilax for 3 years due to chronic constipation in an autistic child now 10 lead to green stools? He has had green stools and turns water green for last 3 weeks, they are loose and he is more tired than usual. Or is it more likely gluten intolerance or something else?

My blood work showed signs of sprue, but my biopsy came back negative for Celiac Disease... I was told that this means I still have a gluten sensitivity so I've been on a gluten free diet since March. I felt wonderful up until a few weeks ago when my intestinal pains returned. My doctor now has me taking fiber as well and I'm not so sure any of this makes sense. They feel exactly like the pains I was experiencing before, so how can they have two different causes? And is there a chance that I don't have a gluten sensitivity after all?

What would be the cost for the answer to this question. Getting an oily discharge with my stool. Also gas pains. I'm a male 67 years old.
