What Are The Side Effects Of Toprol?

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Oct 2015
Question: hi, I have been taking Toprol for about 4 months now, I go a week or 2 just wonderfully, then I'll have some flutters going on. I just want some good reports about this medication with hopes that I'll do ok. I'm a nervous wreck all the time thinking that I might have a stroke. I feel like I can't really live my life anymore, because I live in fear. I am a very young 70 yr old lady I still work at a dental office 3 days a week, have a 65 yr old husband. I have never been sick a day in my life (knock on wood, haha). I don't want to live this way, but can't help it.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

First of all you should continue to take the medication and redo the holter monitoring after 1-2 months of treatment. If there will be again atrial fibrillation episodes, then you should start anticoagulation therapy.

Anticoagulation therapy is the only treatment that prevent and protect from strokes on your case. People who take anticoagulation therapy while they have atrial fibrillation episodes have statistically the same probability for stroke as normal people.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
