default
Posted on Wed, 4 Mar 2015
Question: I have started Cytomel 5 mcg in the mornings, for 8 days so far. Taking it for Fibromyalgia to lose weight and increase metabolism. So far have become bloated and gained 2 lbs - feel extra heavy and awful, very dry mouth have had to buy special toothpaste to deal with dry mouth. I am really upset about the weight gain. Will this med ever change or does it just not work for me?
Thanks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
You should stop it till you see your Doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Cytomel is used in some patients that are diagnosed with fibromyalgia and low thyroid function.

It's use should be guided by levels of blood thyroid hormones ( TSH, FT3), if they are within normal ranges, Cytomel should not be used.

You had adverse effects of using Cytomel, from what was expected, so you should stop it till you consult you Doctor.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
