What Are The Chances Of Infection After Touching The Area Post Dermaroller Use?
Question: I just used a derma roller and im just wondering/hoping i used it correctly. Last week i disinfected it for 30 mins in hydrogen peroxide, tonight i disinfected in alcohol for 15 mins. I took a shower and washed the area i was treating. I then began using the derma roller. After treatment I applied a pure legitimate vitamin e cream, a serum, and apricot oil mixed into one jar. HOWEVER without thinking immediately after I touched my phone (has germs of course) and then rubbed my stomach (the treated area). Can i get an infection from that?? I touched my phone and rubbed the treated area about 2 minutes after treatment.

Usually after a dermaroller procedure, the treated skin area does'nt require strict post procedure asepsis.
The reason being that skin punctures will seal immediately after dermaroller treatment, therefore, infection cannot get through.
Moreover I dont think that this was a major breach in asepsis since you properly sterilized the instrument and treatment area before procedure.
What you can do now, just as a precautionary measure is clean the treated area with an antiseptic like betadine solution Or soap water and that should be fine.

Wow so then can i ask whats the point of using creams afterwards if the holes immediately heal ?

Yes, the punctures do seal themselves immediately as soon as the needle comes out and the sharp edges of puncture wound approximate each other.
Platelets too derived from blood form an early clot and this also helps seal the wound. The permeability of epidermis is nevertheless increased because of the injury/punctures which helps penetration of creams/serums.
Serums or creams are also absorbed/penetrate better because of increased vascularity associated with injury (dermarolling) and wound healing process that follows it and not necessarily through the punctures which seal very early.
