Suggest Treatment Fot Symptoms Of Shingles

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Feb 2015
Question: I believe that I am now dealing with shingles. I have a patch of blisters behind my right new. It has not been about four days since the blisters have appeared. Most of the fluid in the blisters has gone away what used to be blisters is now very darkened skin which remains painful. The initial area of blistering has not spread. Does this sound like it could be shingles? and if so what should I be doing to treat the affected area?

Brief Answer:
Could be shingles

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your query.
I think I would be able to help you.

The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of shingles. In fact the only thing that I suspect against shingles is the duration.

Most commonly the shingles last between 7 to 14 days.in your case however the symptoms seem to be improving within 4 days - your blisters are drying up.

However with the other symptoms, I still think it is shingles.

I usually suggest a prescription of acyclovir to my patients once I have seen the lesions. In addition, the addition of pregabalin or carbamazepine may help with the pain.
Since these are all prescription drugs, I suggest you meet a physician for a prescription of the same medicines.

I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information helps you. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
