Posted on Mon, 14 Nov 2016
Question: Hi I am 23 years, basically I had a cross link on my left eye about 7-8 years ago. And my right eye was too late. I went to visit the doctor today and he checked and said my right eye has become too weak and the cornea is scarred and tooo thin it can rupture with pressure. I am pregnant, and scared with the pressure of labour it can rupture. He suggested a transplant I wanted to take an opinion is it safer to do a c section rather than going for labour! I would personally prefer that Coz I'm scared of labour but also scared if something goes wrong it can pressure my eyes. Please give me ur honest opinion

Brief Answer:
right eye amblyopic and to avoid diplopia left eye has deviated.

Detailed Answer:
You can go for normal delivery. It appears you have got a lazy eye. Most probably your right eye is amblyopic so to avoid diplopia your left eye has deviated.Refraction should be done and cover test to measure deviation of left eye. With your age no surgical correction can be done since it will be only cosmatic. IOP be measured. Corneal pachymetry should be done to measure thickness of cornea. If it is normal and IOP is normal then glaucoma is ruled out so no chance of rupture. So a normal delivery can be done.In noway corneal transplant is indicated, nor it will help in your problem. To the best of my ability I have given an honest opinion. What options are advised are only available solution. I do not see any contradiction for section. Can consult gynecologist and obstetrician for their view.
