Suggest Treatment For Watery Stool, Pus And Mucus In Stool

Posted on Tue, 25 Aug 2015
Question: Hi doctor, please help me:( please?? I am getting watery stool only once every morning and may be once in evening, rest of the day I am fine. It's been 2 months . first month I had loose stool 7 to 8 times a day. Now it reduced to only once in mornings after having nizonide for 3 days. I got colonoscopy done and all is normal. I am in remission phase of ulcerative colitis ( was detected in 2009). Got colonoscopy done last week to see if my ulcerative colitis has come back but the report is all normal and my doc confirms i am in remission. I also got stool culture done and report says no bacterial pathogen isolated. If all reports r normal , why am I getting loose stools in morning and sometimes in evening? I don't have blood in stool but there are pus cells and mucus detected. Please guide me.

Brief Answer:
you can consider tab rifagut 400mg thrice a day for 2 weeks

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
as you are a known case of UC ,on remission the symptoms you may be having because os small intestinal bacterial growth (SIBO) That may not detect the bacteria in stool always ,but symptomatically it can be improved by Rifaximin.
In my opinion you can consider Tab rifagut 400mg thrice a day for 2 weeks. However you should see your regular treating doctor for the prescription and his perspective.
hope this information help you
thank you

Hi doctor, I had rifagut 400 mg for a week. But it did not go away, my motions got worse after having rifagut. May b it was the side effect. Plz tell me if nizonide will work? I am also continuing mesaco 1200 mg as part of uc treatment.

Thank you so much doctor. Just wanted to ask one more question. Last year I got infection I had rifagut for a week. When I stopped it , I became alright. While having rifagut I got terrible motions. Similarly while I had nizonide last month for 3 days, I got terrible motions but once I stopped I was alright for couple of days. So is the antibiotics or medicine cause diarrhoea and only after completing the course it's alright?? Also I had one ivoral forte tablet last week, I still have slight worm sensation. Do u recommend another dose or nizonide would do?? Thanks for your patience.

Brief Answer:
yes antibiotics do cause diarrhoea

Detailed Answer:
As of now just consider cap vsl#3 ,nizonide is not really required and most important is your diet like less of milk products and spicy food.
thank you

Thank u so much

Doctor, just one more general query. My daughter 2 years old. I gave bendex for worm removal, doctor suggested to give 2nd dose after 14 days. When I gave her 2nd dose , she vomited and I think little bit of medicine came out. Do u advice to give bendex again third time?? I am concerned as she is v restless in night.
