Suggest Treatment For Vitamin B12 Deficiency

Posted on Thu, 7 Jan 2016
Question: Hello, I'm planning for weight loss injections. However, found and read about Lipoden and MIC shots both. I'm not able to figure out how they both are different from eachother and also which one is more effective? Do these shots have side effects or reverse effects once done with the course of shots? If, I start with one particular course will I have to stick to it for lifetime? I'm planning to take them also because I'm defecient with Vit B12 and also started getting into obese range. Kindly advice, how this would work for me?

Brief Answer:
Natural ways are best.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. With young age of just 28 years, i would not recommend any weight loss technique which is unnatural as all of these have adverse effects and sequelae. Stick to natural means of weight loss. None of these two mentioned products should be used. These lipotropic agents should be avoided.

Use small meals, avoid carb rich foods, high protein low carb diets help. Reduce caloric intake , aim for 2000 kcal in a day and no more. Drink 2 glass of cold water before meal. Exercise daily for 35 minutes at least. Avoid sweets, processed foods, canned products, soda etc. Sign up to an FDA approved weight loss program. Lose weight at a slowest possible pace of 2 pounds a week, 30 pounds per session of 12 weeks in a year and no more.

Nutshell, avoid all over the counter shortcuts for weight loss as these are pandora's boxes you don't wanna open. I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.

Khan

And how can I deal with Vit B12 defeciency? Will that get sorted with the diet itself? I feel quiet lethargic as per my age, how do I deal with it? I did have quiet defecient Vit D3 too, when checked last year. Had done a course of six weeks then but have not done recently. Even, i start with exercise regime, I'm not able to stick to it regularly, as i get quite bad muscle spasms which then takes time to resolve. I feel quite irritated of all then. How do I cope up with this issue?

Brief Answer:
B12 should be taken in supplements

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

Vitamin B 12 supplements can be used orally with out any hesitation. Injectable supplements are also available. Foods rich in vitamin B 12 are animal products like meat, liver, eggs , sea foods etc. Adequate use of these foods with a balanced diet will make sure the B12 is compensated. All these musculoskeletal issues are nutritional imbalance and will be recovered once the B12, vitamin D and electrolytes balance intake is administered. You can take tylenol or any muscle relaxant for the spasm. Don't stress out your body beyond bearing limits. Just walking briskly for 45 minutes a day is a good exercise . Stick to what you re comfortable with.

I hope it helps.

Thankyou for the advice, it does makes sense to me. I also do have an issue of IBS, since few years. And, I have tried modifying my diet n number of times by now. These days, I stick to salads n fruits alot. Can You kindly advice me how I can make my diet better for overall health. I have started feeling too old for my age, which I want to change. My family history has DM , Thyroid and also Cancer runs in my mothers family. I wish to be healthy, rather being host for these diseases.
Also, how many injections/shots will I need of Vit B12? Will one or two be sufficient and then I could be on supplements. If you could please help me with dosage required? Which other supplement would you recommend me to take for better health?

Brief Answer:
Diet mentioned. Injection dosage

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

With IBS diet and lifestyle modifications are mandatory. Small frequent meals , mostly fiber and fluids, fresh fruits and vegetables. avoiding spices, stimulants, soda, beverages, alcohol, dairy and fatty foods. Use more yogurt and peppermint for the relief. Keep an eye on your weight, DM will be less likely. If cancer runs in family just be vigilant and get evaluated for any out of the blue symptoms or lump anywhere in the body immediately.

Regarding B12 injection, 10 injections of 100 to 200 mcg on alternate day followed by one weekly for a 6 to 8 weeks followed by one monthly for rest of the life.

I hope it helps.
Take care
