Suggest Treatment For Tinnitus, Nausea And High BP

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Aug 2015
Question: Tinnitus for past 3 months with lightheadedness, fluctuating nausea, and spikes in BP, as high as 205/101. One ER visit and several dr visits so far. No absolute diagnosis to date except hypertension and slight sinus congestion. Recent BP spikes again, that only last for a short time. No past history of hypertension. Seem to be more obvious in evenings and when laying down. I take .o5 Synthroid. Cardiology says heart is good. Started using 12.5 HCTZ last few days but has only controlled the BP somewhat, but not completely. Changed diet because I recently (4 wks ago) tested positive on Alpha-Gal. Had a anafelyctoid reaction 12 years ago to cats/dogs. Currently taking a lot of fluids to determine if dehydration....no change yet. Not sure what to do next, what kind of doctor or specialist should I followup with? Fear an ER visit may be coming up again.

Hi,
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
I need more information before I can give you a proper answer.
Do you have imbalance?
Do you feel like you will fall?
If yes, are the first 2 symptoms one sided?
Do you have the vertigo more on getting up from the bed?
Do you have the vertigo on turning head?
If yes, does this last symptom occur in a particular direction more frequently?
Do you have ear pain?
Do you have visual symptoms?
I would like the answers to the questions to be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

No to all questions. No "vertigo", ie dizziness, but more lightheaded, ie "head in the clouds". Continued thick sinus drainage from time to time. I have taken three courses of zithromax in the past 6 months. Trying clindamycin now. No fevers.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your response.
After that I feel the possibility is that this is sinusitis induced headache.
I would suggest a x ray PNS waters view to confirm the diagnosis.
Antibiotics with steam inhalation and nasal drops should help you.
I would prefer to do an MRI BRAIN also to rule out a brain related problem though since the symptoms don't seem to be abating.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
