Question: I have a swollen and bruised ancle due to a fall. It happened Saturday and doesn't hurt to walk on. Should I use compression, or just ice and elevation?

It is advisable to put compression to the area if there is no pain since it will stabilize ligaments and tendons and prevent further injury and speed up the healing process.

Also, ice and nonsteroid painkillers(eg. Tylenol) should be continued. The leg should be elevated as much as possible if swelling persists.

These measures should be followed for around 10 days.

I already take Diclofenac for tendonitis in my hip, should I take Tylenol in addition?
