Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat, Chills, Fever And Body Pain

default
Posted on Wed, 17 Feb 2016
Question: Hello, 10 days ago I developed a severe sore throat within an hour accompanied with fever, chills and body pain. 5 days later I was given penicillin by my DR but did not agree with me. I also developed red eyes, bloodshot but no pain. Eyes have been checked by optician since and she thought it as conjunctivitis. I'm now on the second day of taking Clarithromycin. Noticed a slight soreness in the left side of my throat again and pushed the tongue down to examine. I found a black raised round lump. similar to the type of dark lumps found under the tongue. Are these dark lumps normal at the bottom of the back of the throat? Or do I need to be worried?

Brief Answer:
An examination is required to diagnose, upload picture for assessment

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM .

I have gone through your query.

It is difficult to comment, without examination. If possible kindly take the picture of the same and upload it.

There might be congestion as a result of sore throat. In this case there there might be slight swelling but not lump. So I would also like to know is it slight raised area or lump that you seeing.

I would suggest you to see ENT specialist for examination and for exact diagnosis. Most of these lumps and bumps are just variations of the normal anatomy of your mouth, but still need examination to rule out any pathology.

Presently I would suggest you to take the prescribed medicines along with that avoid cold drinks, cold water, ice cream, smoking and alcohol drinking if you have and long stay in air-conditioning room.

Chlorhexidine plus hydrogen peroxide mouth gargles two times a day.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Thank you for your reply Dr. XXXXXXX Kolur,

Unfortunately I won't be able to take a photo of it. I had my husband look at it and he thought it looks like a little blood bubble.

Brief Answer:
just observation for week.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Good to hear from you.

Based on the information, I feel it is due to congestion, so presently I would suggest you to follow the measures as suggested in earlier part and observe this. It should resolve on its own within week.

I would recommend you to visit ENT specialist, for examination, if it persists got more than a week or if there is any change in it.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
