Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Loose Piece Of Skin Hanging In Throat

Question: Hi I have a soar throat and it feels like I have a loose piece of skin hanging in the back of my throat moving if I try to get it up or down. It does not disturb me but will it get cut off at some point or is it just something that is part of a coming cold. Just treating with drinking warm liquid an aspirin and vitamin C in the morning and evening.

Hi. Thank you for writing to HCM.

The loose piece of skin hanging at the back of your throat is probably some inflammatory tissue that is swollen and therefore appears hanging like a skin tag. This is common during a sore throat. This should go away in 2-3 days. You can continue the treatment that you are taking for 3 more days. If your sore throat worsens - pain while swallowing increases or develop fever then you will need a course of antibiotics for which you will need to see your physician.
