Question: On the 25th of October I was admitted to A&E with sinus tachycardia and elevated BP, it disappeared my stats went to normal and I was discharged back to my GP. On the 26th of October, I was admitted to A&E, again, with sinus tachycardia and high BP, it disappeared, and I was discharged back to my GP. On the 27th of October, I was admitted to A&E with sinus tachycardia and elevated BP, but with a temperature of 40.5 degrees Celsius accompanied with acute diarrhoea. I was given IV antibiotics and IV fluids and discharged with a diagnosis of gastroenteritis. Since then my heart rate has been erratic and elevated sometimes above 100 but not more than 120 and my temperature is 38 degrees Celsius continuous. I have had investigations done with my cardiologists, which shown in a 24 hour tape second degree AV block type 1 twice in the 24 hours. Stress echo and 24 BP was normal. My questions are could an infection cause the erratic and elevated heart rate?

Brief Answer:
Yes, infection might be the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, infection in the body can aggravate and cause erratic heart rate elevation.
In my opinion, you should consult cardiac electrophysiologist and get done EP (electrophysiological) study of heart to identify the cause.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
