Today i had a severe bout of cough again and heard a click sound in the same place of my muscular pain followed by exteme pain in the area preventing me from movement or breathing. i took ibuprufen 400mg twice without any improvement. Brief Answer:
Likely to be muscular pain

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms

From the description given it appears more likely to be muscular pain which could be due to muscle spasm. Prolonged bout of coughing can sometimes produce click like sensation in the rib joints on the backside, which itself can produce spasm.

I would suggest the following which will definitely be helpful

1. Hot water fomentation: Either by cloth soaked in hot water or hot water bag
2. Add a skeletal muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxazone apart from taking Ibuprofen.

If the pain persists, would suggest you to get Chest X Ray done.

In case you require any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take Care
