Suggest Treatment For Severe Menstrual Cramps While Having Mild Anemia

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Jun 2016
Question: About two weeks ago I had the worst menstrual cramps that I ever had during my life. It was on the second day and the pain was radiating down my left thigh. I had diarrhea too. It lasted about three hours and then went away. My periods have been heavier for the last few years and I was recently diagnosed with mild anemia. However, during this cycle I had the flu, took prednisone, and had a lot of anxiety and stress. Should I follow up with my OBGYN before my next period or wait and see if my next period goes back to normal?

Brief Answer:
Consult OBGYN soon

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Pain in a single menstrual cycle can be due to cramps due to menstruation or due to some uterine pathology like fibroids.
I will suggest you to consult your OBGYN specialist as if you are having heavy bleeding and anemia, then the cause of heavy bleeding should be diagnosed and proper treatment should be done before the anemia aggravates further.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
