Question: What do I do if I am still suffering pain (slightly worse than before) in my hip 10 days after a cortisone injection?I was told that I needed a further cortisone injection by CAT Scan into my sacro-ileac region, but I do not want to try it before recovering from the hip one (bursitis).

Brief Answer:
Requesting you to upload some medical notes

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Most often pain in hips is due to muscle spasm although degenerative changes like osteoarthritis could also be the cause. The cause of your pain is not apparent from your description and I would insist you to upload any medical notes that you might have at your disposal.

Till then you might benefit from applying hot compress and taking Aleve (naproxen) when needed. It should also help in case of bursitis.

I will wait for your response.

It is difficult to get hold of any reports and send a copy. I have made a request for the GP to release the only report there is, but it would be difficult to send it on. They will send a hard copy, but not one sent as an attachment to an email.
Let me, then, ask a more general question, How likely is it that I may still feel some benefit from the injection, after 11 days of mildly worsened symptoms, or that my condition may continue to be worse than before?

Brief Answer:
Depends upon the underlying cause.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. I understand your distress but I would need to know the findings if I am to guide you. In case the pain is due to bursitis, the injection should provide relief. But that is not the case if the pain is due to other causes like muscle spasm or due to neurogenic pain.

Once you get the copies of reports/medical notes you can simply take a XXXXXXX snapshot and upload them. Alternatively you can manually note them in a follow up query.

Regards
