Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough, Fever, Chest Congestion And Drooling During Sleep

Question: My daughter has had allergies all month. For the last week she has had a bad cough. We do breathing treatments twice a day but they don't seem to be helping. Just tonight she broke out in a fever 101. And sounds a little congested and has been drooling in her sleep. Should I take her to ER or wait till morning? Her fever has gone down.

Brief Answer:
keep a close watch

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
From your description it looks like your daughter has allergic bronchitis and probably throat infection ( drooling).
The fever could be due to throat infection.
You need to keep a close watch on her.
You can wait till morning.
Monitor her breathing and if it becomes very fast or difficult with chest retractions better get to Er.
Ensure that she drinks plenty of liquids to keep her hydrated.
Wishing your child speedy recovery.
Regards
Dr Arun
