Question: I woke up this morning and felt and need to move my bowels when trying to do so I couldn't and realized that my stool was hard and did not want to come out. My body wants to go but can't move the compacted stool out of my body. I tried putting laxative up in myself but it wouldn't go up very far because my stool is right at my orrice. What is the best thing for me do at this point. I am very uncomfortable. I did take 4 stool softners to see if that would help.

Brief Answer:
Have you ever done enema before? If yes, try it. If no, then consult!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

The best approach at this time is to try and remove this stool directly. Laxatives will not help at this point because of teh position. I wil recommend that you get an enema if you have ever tried it before. If this is impossible, I will suggest that you visit your primary care doctor to get this procedure done. At times, simply taking it manually on the examination bed is possible.

To avoid constipation, please drink enough water, consume much fruits and vegetables, increase your fiber intake and also exercise often. Also, check your medications to make sure there is no drug that could be responsible for this. Only if these measures fail should you go on laxatives to help with this.

I hope this is guiding enough. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
