Suggest Treatment For Severe Cold And Chronic Pain In Lower Back
Question: history: 66 year old male. Diabetes (uncontrolled) hyperthyroidism, hypercalcemia, coronary artery disease, cataracts, glaucoma and bipolar. regular medications are metformin, levothyroxine, aspirin, bisoprolol, lithium, paroxetine and omeprazole.
been feeling very very cold even when everyone else is warm. wearing jumpers to bed and socks. has chronic pain in lower back above hip left and right of spine which is usually worse in the morning for about 3 hours does wake to pee up to 3 times each night and is experiencing sudden hair loss all over head. Could these be to do with diabetes?

Please give me few more details like your latest HbA1c, thyroid function tests, calcium reports.
1. Your increased urination at night and tiredness is due to uncontrolled diabetes. Please meet a doctor and have your blood glucose and HbA1c done. If these are increased your doctor will help you in increasing medications or start you on insulin to control your sugars. This will control your frequent urination at night.
2. Intolerance to cold is usually seen in inadequately treated hypothyroidism. Please check your thyroid function tests and let me know the reports.
3. Hair loss can be due to many things in your case: hypothyroidism, vitamin deficiencies, uncontrolled diabetes, stress, decreased sleep etc can lead to sudden hair loss. Please look for these things with the help of your doctor. He will suggest you thyroid function tests, vitamin assays,etc and start you on medications.
4. The pain on the back may be related to hypercalcaemia. Did you undergo evaluation for that. Osteoporosis and kidney stones are associated with hypercalcaemia. Please let me know the details.
