Suggest Treatment For Severe Anemia

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Oct 2016
Question: Hello. I lost my insurance and cannot afford the gynocologist right now. I have severe anemia and actually just got blood in the hospital about 2 weeks ago. I keep having my period for almost 3 weeks or so. It's up & down. No other symptoms. At the hospital they said since I can't afford the gynocologist then I need to temorarily get a prescription from a doctor for birth control pills or similar to make it stop. Is this something you can do? Please help me I can't deal with this anymore. I have my period all the time which makes my anemia worse obviously. Thank you

Brief Answer:
I am sorry but we cannot write prescriptions over this website.

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am, and I hope I can help you today.

Unfortunately, this website is for informational purposes only and we cannot provide any medication prescriptions (see the terms ans conditions for this website) In addition, in the U.S. doctors generally require a medical license in the state where you live to prescribe medication.

However, I suggest you seek out if there is a Planned Parenthood clinic near your area. Planned parenthood provides free and low-cost birth control and they can hopefully help you in your situation.

In addition, in the U.S., people who cannot afford insurance are eligible for insurance due to President Obama's affordable care act. You can apply online at obamacareplan2016.org/Pennsylvania. You qualify for Medicaid if your household income is below a certain level.

Again I apologize for not being able to prescribe medication for you, but I hope this information can help you get the care you need.

If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes and good luck,

Dr. Brown
