Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Cramps And Diarrhea
Question: Since last night I have had horrible stomach cramping and last night when I thought I had to release some gas I ended up running to the bathroom only to find a lot of mucus everywhere. All day today I have not been able to pass gas without being over a toilet because nothing but yellowish mucus is coming out that smells like garbage. It's really starting to freak me out, what could this be??

Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).
This all be due to antibiotic associated diarrhoea. Moreover amoxicillin has also got this side effect. So I will advise you to take a course of probiotic along with antibiotics. If possible you can switch from amoxicillin to some other antibiotic of penicillin group which has got lesser side effect. Also take cap simethicone.

I took amoxicillin for a a week then got put on a stronger antibiotic. which was taken for 6 days. it's been a few days since I have taken any. this is all because of this? how long can this last??
