Suggest Treatment For Secondary Erectile Dysfunction

Question: Hi Doc,

I am a healthy male weighing 97 kgs, I have started going to the gym for 1 hour everyday for the last 3 months.

Last couple of months I have noticed that my erection is weakening.

I do not have any known medical condition.

I have sex once a week with my wife, last week i could not have penetrative sex as my erection was not strong enough. This was the first time this happened.

I had earlier tried vigomax forte which seemed to help, took 2 strips then discontinued.

Thanks for query.Based on the facts that you have posted you semm to have what is called as Secondary Erectile Dysfunction .

It is natural and normal for every man to face the problem of secondary erectile dysfunction at some point of time in his sexual life .There is nothing to be worried about it .

In absence of any major health issue and diabetes most of the time ED is due to what is called as performance anxiety and is psychogenic in origin about which one is not aware of.

Following general measures will help you to get good hard erection to have enjoyable sex .
1) Continue doing moderate exercises in the morning followed by meditation for 30 minutes
2) take high protein diet rich in fruits and vegetables and Vitamins ACDE and Zinc.
3) Take anti oxidants like 6-8 Almonds everyday morning
4) Avoid alcohol and Smoking .

Taking Seldenafil(Viagra) before planned sexual activities will help to increase libido and in getting hard erection to have penetrative enjoyable sex keeping in mind about minor side effects like drowsiness,mild head ache etc.However these side effects last only for few hours.

As regards Vigomox that you are taking it is a herbal medication.There is no harm in taking it for a long period .It can be taken with Sildenafil (Viagra).

2) Do I need to get my penile blood flow checked?
3) How long will this condition last.
4) Is there any test I should to do?
5) I have been working night shifts from last 6 years , could this be a factor

Thanks for follow up .I would like to answer your queries point to point as detailed below.
1) Viagra is not a habit forming drug .You can discontinue it once your problem of ED gets resolved.

2)It is not necessary to do Doppler Penile Scan as you have secondary ED .It is primarily advised in Primary ED when one does not get Erection even after taking Viagra.

3) Secondary ED gets resolved spontaneously.

4) Get your blood sugar level test and Serum Testosterone levels checked .

5) Working in night has no relation with your problem of ED.

6) Viagra is a scheduled drug. You can check with your chemist to help you obtain it.

I just had a bad experience even for this request, I had requested for a
Urologist they gave me Psychiatrist , I really lost it on them. Then they agreed to assign a Urologist when I demanded my money back.

Hi Dr XXXXXXX

Please find attached my updated report:-
XXXX-YYYY-LabReport1-2015 - This report contains the TESTOSTERONE,FREE/TOTAL, SERUM - Report.

I also tried Suhagra 100 - 4 line strip ( Slidenafil ) , seemed to work just fine.
In fact 3 days later too , I seem to get a good erection, though I know the effects do not last more than 4 hours.

There are mild side effects of slight headache and flushness in the eyes for 2-3 hours.

I have also attached my last year reports.
Last year I had bad cholesterol too but last 3 months I have been exercising for an hour at the gym and changed my diet to mainly fruits and very little meals ( no rice or chappatis too)

Marginal lower value of free testosterone has no significance

As regards raised Serum Bilirubin you need to consult qualified Gastro enterologist for any treatment if required .

I would suggest you to take 50 mg of Viagra and observe the response and may increase it to 100 mg if required .
