Brief Answer:
Scarred liver/Cirrhosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

As per your fibroscan report you have cirrhotic or scarred liver. It is irreversible.
You need to quit drinking alcohol to prevent further damage.
You have to undergo other tests like upper GI endoscopy to look for complications like esophageal varices.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K

Thanks for your reply.
I have been a regular alcoholic since last 15 years and under diabetic medication since last 5 years. Now I will stop alcohol totally. Whenever I have taken breaks from alchohol, i experience no withdrawal probelms. Will my life be normal wrt Liver?
My cholestrol levels are low since last 5 years : Total cholestrol is 80, HDL is 40 and LDL is 30 TG 67. Is this related with my Liver? How should I attend to this Cholesterol issue.
I do regular walking (40mins) and have disciplined diet ( salads / meagre portion of meat/ less oils, since long last 1 year. I am active and good in my profession.
Pls advice.

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me with more questions.
If you stop alcohol further complications can be prevented.
You need not worry about the cholesterol issue and it is not related to your liver issue.

Hi Doctor,

Thanks for your advice.
I did a LFT yesterday. My SGOT is 26 and SGPT is 64. This is within range as per report. But the SGOT/SGPT ratio comes to 0.4 only. For a compromised liver, the ratio should have been > 2. What does this point to?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me with more questions.
Ratio more than 2 is for alcoholic liver and not for alcoholic cirrhosis.
You are having alcoholic cirrhosis. That is why your ratio is different.

Dr.R.K.
