Brief Answer:
scalp psoriasis, methotrexare, skin biopsy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I can understand your concern.

In my opinion you are probably having scalp psoriasis. Many cases of scalp psoriasis initially present as seborrhoeic dermatitis. Family history of psoriasis also supports this diagnosis. A skin biopsy will also be helpful in such chronic cases to establish exact diagnosis. Dermatologists perform this procedure routinely in their office set up.

Such long standing cases of psoriasis usually require treatment with oral drugs.

Methotrexate is gold standard drug used in such cases. However considering its side effects it will be better to take this drug under the guidance of a dermatologist.

A shampoo containing salicylic acid and ketoconazole will be better. Salisia kt is one such brand which I usually prescribe to my patients.

Hope this will help you.In case of any concern I will be happy to help you.Take care.
