Suggest Treatment For Red Inflamed Raised Lesion On Leg

default
Posted on Fri, 13 Feb 2015
Question: I have a mole, or what appears to be a mole, on my leg and would like to know if it is anything I should be concerned about? It is raised and has become somewhat hard. It seems to have become more raised, but this has occurred over a pretty long period of time. Sometimes, it feels as though pain radiates from it across my skin. My girlfriend believes it has increased in height. I also have a dark spot on my upper left arm. I would like to know if it is anything to be concerned about. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Benign skin lesions

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same.
I have seen the attached pictures .
The lesion over the leg which is slightly reddish and raised looks like a sebaceous cyst to me. Although it is a harmless skin lesion but at times it tends to become red inflamed and painful .Topical or oral antibiotics along with anti inflammatory agents might be required to bring down the swelling . In most cases ,it subsides slowly and needs no further management .
The lesion over the arm is a mole . In case it is not increasing in size or developing irregular pigmentation or shape or causing any discomfort,it can be left on its own.
