Brief Answer:
Recurrent tonsillitis requires surgical tretment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question. Nothing to worry. The recurrent tonsillitis can lead to ear problems also. You know our ears are connected to pharynx by a tube called as Eustachian tube. The infection from tonsillitis can spread to ear through this tube. Yes some times the antibiotic s may not work because of the resistance of organisms causing tonsillitis. Nothing to worry as this is very common condition that we see in many individuals.
I recommend the following
1) If you have started augumentin and finding improvement then you can continue and complete the course.
2) If you are not finding improvement in symptoms then I advice higher antibiotics like cephalosporins.
3) Continue other medications for symptomatic relief as advised by your doctor.
4) Avoid refrigerated foods,ice creams..
5) The recurring symptoms of tonsillitis is indication for surgery. Discuss with your doctor regarding the surgical option.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have got any further questions I am happy to help you. Wish you a speedy recovery.

Regards,

Which cephalosporin would you recommend for my condition and would removing tonsils through Surgery have negative effects ?
Also have I built a resistance To Augmentin due continous use and that is the reason they don't seem to work anymore ?

Brief Answer:
Yes using antibiotics often can lead to resistance

Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
Thanks for your follow question.
1) I recommend cefixime 200 mg two times a day after food for 5 days. It is a prescribed medication.
2) There are no negative effects after surgery. I operate many cases every day and I see none.
3) Continuous usuage of any antibiotic for that matter can lead to resistance.

Nothing to worry. You will be fine. Wish you a speedy recovery and good health.
