Posted on Wed, 2 Dec 2015
Question: Hi, my husband is having high fever from yesterday. Temperature 101-104F. He took dolo 650 twice at night but still has high fever. Day before yesterday it was raining when he went to office. He had umbrella so he was not effected by rain. From home to office it took around 3hrs bus journey due to rain and heavy traffic. Please suggest me what might go wrong as yesterday morning when he came back from office he was fine. After taking head bathe he got the fever by afternoon.

Brief Answer:
Its infection.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for posting your query.

Fever could be due to viral or bacterial infection. Viral infection will last for 2-3 days and resolves by itself. You just need to keep giving dolo every 6 hours and give plenty of fluids.

But for bacterial infection , a proper antibiotic has to be given , else the fever shall not subside.

I recommend you to observe for one more day and if the temperature is still more than 100 after one day, then get the following tests done and revert back with reports.

CBC, IgM Typhi dot, Dengue profile and Smear for malaria.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.

Regards

Not able to see any files attached with your query, but it was found in another query answered by Dr XXXXXXX , just confirm that , this is the same report that you have uploaded . Because no report is seen in this query.

HAEMOGLOBIN (g/L) 186 g/L 130- 170 High

If the above report is the same as that of your husband's then it indicates Hemoconcentration mean the water content is the blood is reduced . This is seen in many viral infections including Dengue. Hence kindly get the Dengue test done and revert back.

Make sure you hydrate him well.

Regards.
