Posted on Mon, 15 Feb 2016
Question: Hi,
I just got over a 1 month bout of diverticulitis.

I'm starting to feel like I'm getting it again - or this could just be my imagination.

What do you think I should do?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Take lots of fibres, healthy and hygienic food and do regular exercise

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am Dr.Amit Jain (DM, Gastroenterologist).

I have gone through your previous queries also

Symptoms of diverticulitis are intense pain that is continous and persist for many days, associated with nausea, vomiting, fever and alteration of bowel habits and blood in stool

You haven't mentioned whether these symptoms are there or not. If they are not there then there is nothing to worry. Keep cool it may be due to anxiety and apprehension only that you are feeling that it is coming again, I can understand that as you have recently undergone a bad experience. It can happen. So relax

Take lots of fibres and healthy and hygienic food and do regular exercise

However in case you develope intense pain in lower abdomen associated with vomiting and fever or any blood in stool, you should go to ER

I hope I have answered your query. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Wish you a good health

Thank you so much for putting my mind at ease. You are probably right in that I'm worrying too much because of my bad month

I'm drinking lots of water just started to reintroduce fiber. I still have some pain in my lower right abdomen but I believe this is still residual inflammation from recent bout

I love will be sure to give you a good review

Thanks again
