Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same.
I have seen the attached pictures.
The lesions appear to be those of pityriasis rosea to me.
I would like to know certain more details from you regarding the skin problem for confirmation.
Which all areas of body are affected? Is the rash limited to trunk along with upper arms and thighs?Any lesions on face ?
Also please tell since when have you developed these lesions?
Is there any associated pain or itching or discomfort.
What all are you applying over it .

I am sure I will be able to help you better once you provide me the the above details.

Thank you for your reply Dr. XXXXXXX Yes my trunk, upper thighs, and a little bit on the bicep area is affected. No lesions on face. It has been about two weeks since I developed the lesions. Right now I am not using anything to treat it. It is itchy but my skin itches a lot because of eczema,so itching is ok. My shoulder/neck area started developing pain, but I believe it is not related to lesions?

Brief Answer:
Harmless skin problem

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Thanks for the details.
You seem to have developed pityriasis rosea.
It is basically a skin problem which can cause development of red itchy oval to circular skin lesions over trunk ,upper arms and thigh region. Lesions can continue to develop for six to eight weeks.
It is a self limiting skin condition and does not require any treatment.
For itching ,topical steroids can be applied and oral antihistamines like Benadryl can be taken .
So my advise would be that you should apply plenty of moisturisers and can apply topical steroid cream like cortisone if the itching is really worrisome .
The lesions follow a natural course and will slowly heal by themselves without any scarring.
Your pain does not seem to be associated with this skin problem ,you can see your nearby doctor for the pain.

Hope it helps
