Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Right Upper Quadrant

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Aug 2016
Question: I have right upper chest pain (above my breast but under my collar bone). It is sharp and radiates down my right arm. Occasionally on the left too but not constant. I feel short of breathe. My doctor said I have pneumonia but I have had that many times before and this feels nothing like the others. I am not coughing, I have no burning sensation in my lungs or chest.

Brief Answer:
Please go to ER now.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

How did your doctor diagnose it as pneumonia, by listening to your chest? By chest X-ray?

I am concerned that unless he was able to diagnose it is as pneumonia, it could be something else involving your lungs. I think you should go to the ER where they can get a chest X-ray and other tests to see what is going on. Pneumonia does not usually cause pain going down the right arm.

So please go now and I welcome you to let me know how you are doing after you have been evaluated further.
